Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I need to work with a therapist?

Ideally, yes! For clients with eating disorders or disordered eating concerns, establishing care with a licensed therapist is required as this will improve the quality of your treatment and care. If you are struggling to find a therapist, especially one that accepts your insurance, please let me know, and I would be happy to provide you with a few options.

  • What ages do you see?

I see clients ages 10 and older. Clients younger than 10 will be considered on a case by case basis and may require a more extensive treatment team and a higher frequency of follow-up appointments.

  • Do you take my insurance?

I currently accept Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Oxford, Optum and United Healthcare plans. If you do not see your insurance listed, please feel free to reach out and rates will be provided.

  • Are sessions virtual or in-person?

Nutrition counseling sessions will take place virtually for clients via Zoom. For clients who reside in the Tampa Bay area, in-person sessions including meal exposures and walk and talk sessions can be provided on a case-by-case basis.

  • Do I have to be present during my child's nutrition appointment?

Yes! Clients who are under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian present at the initial assessment appointment. Guidance will be provided on level of family support required for sessions after the assessment has been completed.

  • Can a Registered Dietitian provide therapy?

My role as a Registered Dietitian is to provide nutrition education and support with any nutrition related concerns. It is optimal to have a therapist, medical provider, and psychiatrist if needed as we all are experts in our own individual disciplines.
